A Child's Prayer to Mary
Holy Mary, mother fair, Filled with love for God,
Pray for us in all our needs.
Pray for us todAY
As St. Pius X gets ready for the annual Crowning of
our Mother Mary, I began looking for a prayer to
include in this week’s newsletter. There are a
myriad of beautiful prayers dedicated to our blessed
Mother but looking through my rather interesting
lens of life none were capturing the true heart of
her beautiful ministry both on earth and in heaven.
So, as He does so much of the time, the Holy Spirit
led me back to a moment that clarified what I have
been searching for.
As I was walking by the classrooms last week, I
happened to notice the children saying a decade of
the rosary. It was one of those beautiful moments
of time. Interestingly, at the time I was thinking of
what I had to check off on my to-do list so it didn’t
hit me until later. The innocence and earnestness of
the students, especially the little ones (I could
watch the lower grades interact all day
long…hilarious) as they prayed to the Mother of our
Savior Jesus Christ, brought me to what I consider
the core of our adoration of Mary. Simply put, it is
the innocence of a child’s faith in the presence of
Mary and her Son’s love poured out to us. Nothing
could be purer.
If you have the chance to join us Friday morning,
May 24 at 11:15 a.m. as we celebrate the beautiful
crowning of our blessed Mother, filled with the
beautiful songs and prayers we know, sneak a
glance at pure love in action, the earnest prayer of a
child to the Mother of Christ.
-When leading a second grade CCD class, the kids
each had to illustrate a passage of the Hail Mary.
The first picture was of a woman clearly meant to
be Mary, with grapes falling out of her sleeve.
When asked, the little boy explained, "Hail Mary,
full of grapes..."
